Earlier this year I was very honoured to be contacted by the very beautiful Muckrach Country House Hotel (formerly Lodge) just outside Dulnain Bridge with an invitation to be part of their exciting launch into all things wedding! For those who don’t know, Muckrach, once a Victorian Shooting Lodge, has operated as a hotel under different ownership for many years now. As often happens, time had changed much of its interior with original features hidden behind panels and partition walls. In April 2014 the hotel was bought by brothers Phil and Ed, successful owners of a multi faceted award winning business in Cheshire. Restoration began almost immediately, breathing new and exciting life into this beautiful building in a stunning location. Muckrach has had a complete top to toe makeover. Not simply a lick of paint, but heaps of building work, knocking back modern changes, revealing features long since covered. And opening it up to a new light spacious boutique hotel while returning so much of its charm and elegance. The brothers’ own success is driven by a real passion for family values and for quality and attention to detail in every aspect. From their choice of local family run suppliers, to the food on the plate, from the decor to the entire customer experience. An ethic which generates real enthusiasm and equal passion among their staff. And so it was only natural I would say a big “yes” to working alongside someone with values which were very much aligned with my own.
Muckrach makes a truly fabulous venue for a wedding. Be it the intimate sized wedding parties we are seeing more of just now or indeed the larger parties. A table of 16-20 makes for a wonderfully sociable wedding breakfast. With a choice of the beautifully wood paneled Grant Room or the light airy conservatory it really is ideal for those who want a smaller wedding centered around good food, good wine and most of all good company. And Muckrach offers all these in abundance. The conservatory however will take 70 or so seated banquet style, also a popular layout. So inside it offers the perfect space. They also offer ceremonies. The drawing room is perfect with views overlooking the great terraced area and lawns. And if you are lucky with the weather then the terrace offers a very different way to “stage” your wedding outdoors. For the larger parties they also have ample space for a marquee. They even cater for “runaway” weddings. Just you both and the beautiful Scottish surroundings (yes the staff will even be your witness). So no size or style of day is off the agenda.
Muckrach have teamed up with some of the very best local businesses to create some excellent wedding packages. By staying true to their “family values” and using local family suppliers means you can place a big part of your day in the hands of a team who love to work together to ensure your day is just perfect. The entire team works hard to give you a day which is all about you, whatever the time of year and whatever day of the week. Together we helped showcase a number of spaces with them at the their first ever wedding fair in November this year, which proved a big hit with couples who were considering booking. A huge thank you to The Flower Box in Grantown (fresh flowers), Made with Love by Sharon (Stationery) and Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Aviemore (Sweetie tables and favours) for helping create three elegant settings.
If you have already chosen Muckrack for your wedding (bookings already into 2017) then I, for one, am very much looking forward to being part of your wedding team next year. And if you haven’t then why not get in touch with them. Their next wedding fair is already in the planning for next spring!
